Organization Appoints Social Justice Leader to Extend Record of Advancement for Women
(Chicago) – Women Employed is thrilled to announce that Iliana A. Mora has been named President and CEO of Women Employed, succeeding Executive Director Anne Ladky, who is retiring in June after 40 years with the organization. Iliana is a highly regarded nonprofit executive, having served most recently as Chief Operating Officer of Erie Family Health Center. She has been a member of Women Employed’s Board of Directors for nine years and is deeply committed to WE’s mission. Iliana formally begins her tenure on July 1st.
Iliana began her 14-year career at Erie as the Manager of Community Relations and Planning and advanced steadily to the role of Chief Operating Officer. She was a leader and innovator at Erie during turbulent times and major changes in the healthcare industry. She led Erie to unprecedented growth, more than doubling the organization’s size to serve almost 70,000 patients. Her ability to build partnerships and forge coalitions positioned Erie as a model for other healthcare organizations across the country.
In addition to over a decade of non-profit executive experience, Iliana brings to her new role at Women Employed a lifelong commitment to social and economic justice. During her tenure at Erie Family Health Center, she was a staunch advocate for low-income women and the communities of color that Erie predominantly serves. Under Iliana’s leadership, Women Employed will continue to address the urgent challenges facing working women, playing a critical leadership role in protecting and advancing policies at the federal, state and local levels and engaging employers and civic leaders to increase women’s economic security.
“Iliana’s passion for bringing about meaningful and lasting change, her success in finding creative solutions to persistent problems, and her proven ability to work with a wide array of stakeholders to accomplish goals made it clear to the Board that she is uniquely positioned to build on Anne’s tremendous legacy,” said Lisa Pattis, Board Chair.
Iliana and Anne will be working closely together over the next three months to ensure a seamless transition. Women Employed supporters will have their first opportunity to meet Iliana at Women Employed’s annual event, The Working Lunch, on May 10; Anne will deliver the keynote address.
The Women Employed Board of Directors has established the Anne Ladky Leadership Fund to honor Anne’s contributions over her 40-year career and support Women Employed’s efforts to inspire and engage new leaders in women’s economic justice issues and expand the organization’s impact.
