Shirlondra Brooks leads Women Employed’s Career Foundations Program in partnership with City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago Jobs Council, the Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition, and community-based organizations. Shirlondra works closely with City Colleges of Chicago to build pathways into higher levels of education and employmentfor adults who have low-literacy or English language skills, and to align programs citywide.
Before joining Women Employed in 2017, Shirlondra worked for over 14 years leading the development and implementation of healthcare bridge and career pathway programming under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA) and the Health Professions Opportunities Grant (HPOG) in partnership with Triton College. She has an extensive background working with the Illinois Department of Human Services Work First and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP) to provide intensive case management, education, job skills training, pre-employment services, and unsubsidized job placement to help clients improve their work skills and become self-sufficient.
Shirlondra earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Social Work from Indiana University.
