Urgent: Call Your Alders in Support of Paid Time Off

City Council vote set for Thursday, November 9th at
4 p.m. Let’s Make Chicago a Leader on Paid Leave!

You may have heard that great news that the proposed Paid Time Off ordinance passed by a vote of 13-2 in committee and was sent to the full City Council for a vote on Tuesday, November 7th. In spite of several compromises crafted over numerous negotiations with business groups, there is still opposition to this common-sense, humane policy. We need your voice to be heard in support of hundreds of thousands of working people—many of them Black and Latina/x women—who need this vital measure.

A vote on the ordinance in the city’s Workforce Development Committee has been rescheduled for Thursday, November 9th at 4:00 p.m. The opposition is determined, so we must make our voices even louder to ensure the ordinance passes. Call your alderperson TODAY and demand a Paid Time Off ordinance that is fair for working people, and that doesn’t exclude so many of those who need it most. Your alderperson needs to hear from you BEFORE Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Working people in Chicago need you to speak up and speak out.
