TAKE ACTION: Protect Data for Working Women!
Submit Public Comment on EEO-1 Data Collection by August 24th
For over 60 years, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has collected workforce data known as EEO-1, a vital tool that helps to expose unfair employer practices and uncover discrimination. On July 23, the EEOC proposed new rules that would eliminate collection of this critical data.
Removal of EEO-1 data collection will make it harder for the EEOC, state civil rights agencies, researchers, advocates, and workers to identify barriers to equal opportunity and address systemic discriminatory practices that reduce job opportunities. Getting rid of the data doesn’t make discrimination go away―it just makes it harder to identify, investigate, and address.
At a time when workers—particularly Women of Color, women in low-wage jobs, women with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ women—are already struggling to get by, it is vital that we see the discrimination happening in order to address it.
Working women’s rights are on the line. We need you to demand that the federal government protect us from workplace discrimination.

I strongly oppose the EEOC’s proposed rule, “Removal of Reporting Requirements,” which would end EEO-1 and other vital data collection processes that help uncover and combat workplace discrimination.
This important data allows workers, advocates, and researchers to identify patterns of discrimination and barriers to opportunity, and to conduct investigations. Furthermore, it helps employers examine their own practices and provides researchers, the media, and the public with important information.
Losing access to this data will make it easier for discriminatory practices to proliferate, putting working people at risk of losing pay and opportunities. The EEOC should be protecting workers and fighting discrimination, not removing the tools we need to identify and root it out. I urge the EEOC to abandon this rule and continue collecting vital workplace data.
