A New Benchmark for American Progress: Centering Black Women

January 28, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm CST

Partner Event

Janelle Jones of the Groundwork Collaborative, has proposed a new framework for economic, healthy, and education outcomes analysis that elevates and centers Black women in our worldview. “Black Women Best” posits that when the outcomes for Black women improve, everyone else will benefit, particularly now as the nation thinks about rebuilding from the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Panelists: Felicia S. Davis (Chicago Foundation for Women), Cherita Ellens (Women Employed) Tammy Gibson (Honoring the Legacy: A Guide of African-American Monuments and Statues) and Kimberly Loftis (Blue Marble Payroll) explore the outcome disparities Black women experience and work they are doing to narrow the gap. Moderated by Christina Steed (Flowers Communication Group).
