Starr De Los Santos is the Senior Coalition Manager at Women Employed. She is in charge of developing and advancing comprehensive strategies to build, activate and engage new and existing statewide coalitions in pursuit of specific policy and public education goals. Starr oversees the Time to Care, Illinois Full and Fair Wage, and Equal Pay Day Chicago coalitions. Starr was also recently appointed to Mayor Brandon Johnson’s LGBTQ+ advisory council where she is a part of the equity & inclusion committee and serves on the Auxiliary Board for the National Museum of Mexican Art.
Starr is originally from Washington Heights, NY, and has spent over a decade advocating for equal rights for Latinx, Women, and LGBTQ+ groups and higher education access and affordability in Illinois. She is proud to have earned her B.A. in Justice Studies and her M.A. in American Government and Public Affairs from Northeastern Illinois University, a Hispanic-Serving Institution in Chicago. With 9+ years of experience in program, data, non-profit, and client relationship management, Starr previously worked at college access and professional development organizations and dedicated the majority of her career to guiding young adults in their personal and professional lives by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in college and beyond.
