Working Families Need the American Families Plan!

The American Families Plan is one of the boldest proposals to support working families in decades, with policies that would make a significant, positive difference in the lives of millions of hard-working Americans. This plan would provide meaningful relief to the many women and working families who have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic: relief so that people don’t have to choose between their (or their family’s) health and their job; so that people don’t have to work three to four jobs just to get by; and so that everyone can access education and healthcare for themselves or their children. In particular, investments in child care will go a long way in helping working women return to the workforce and come out of this “she-cession.”

Long-overdue policies proposed in the American Families Plan include:

  • A national paid leave program
  • Investments in the child care infrastructure and workforce, including a minimum wage of $15/hour for our most essential child care workers
  • An increase in the Pell Grant and other investments to make higher education more affordable
  • Extension and expansion of child tax credits

Just one of the above policies could transform the lives for women across the country (but there’s even more to be excited about in the American Families Plan, click here to learn more). Taken together, they represent an incredibly powerful statement on the importance of rebalancing our economy to ensure working women and families have the economic supports they need. Let’s not wait any longer to pass these critical investments in working families to help build a robust and sustainable economic recovery.

Please take one minute of your time to urge congress to take bold action and pass the American Families Plan!

Together, we will ensure more women, families, and communities can build their economic power and thrive.
